Course Overview

Building on the foundational knowledge from Level 1, students will begin to specialise in mechanical skills, focusing on all key systems of the motorcycle. The course deepens understanding of motorcycle components and how they function, with a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on work.

Students will develop the skills needed to remove, inspect, and replace a wide range of motorcycle parts, applying their existing knowledge to more complex tasks. This next step provides the essential training required for progression into the trade or further study at Level 3.

What You Will Study

The course is delivered through a blend of practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory. If you haven’t yet achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE Maths or English, you’ll continue to work towards these qualifications alongside your main studies.

Units include:

  • Health and Safety in the Workshop
  • Engine Systems
  • Steering and Suspension
  • Electrical Systems

These units build on the knowledge gained at Level 1, allowing you to develop a deeper understanding of key motorcycle systems and how to maintain and repair them.

You will be assessed through practical tasks in the workshops and completion of portfolio work and end of unit online exams.

GCSEs at Grade 9-3 in English and Maths.

AND

A Level 1 Certificate qualification.

On successful completion and with the required English and Maths grades you can progress through the levels.
